A survey and map 1796 of Walcot properties shows the reference (Gh) for the position and name of the Bell Alehouse, where John Farmer was tenant paying £7 yearly.
Today we are familiar with the current location of the Six Bells Inn, which indicates that the pub probably moved premises over the years. Archdeacon Plymley recorded in 1793 that Ann Farmer was tenant of the Six Bells and later William Farmer ran the Six Bells for decades.
Research ongoing. Do you have any information or pictures of any of the pubs of Bishop’s Castle? We’d love to hear from you. Contact us here.
